The Dangers of Inflammation
No worries, I have the best solution...
Water is at the core of who we are as humans, its needed to sustain life of our planet and its needed for us to live. If you look back in history you will find that all major colonies were founded near large bodies of water and rivers. This is because they understood the major impact that water has on us and that it’s literally needed for survival. Inside of the human body water has an infinite amount of functions. No literally, you will find water at the base of every bodily function and cell. It helps with waste removal, joint lubrication, moistens tissues and organs, prevents constipation in the colon and cellular constipation and so much more. We understand why water is so important, even when we go through a process of fasting we always suggest getting large amounts of water or hydration via fresh pressed juice. How in the world is dry fasting a benefit to my body? Wont I simply be dehydrating myself and causing more issues than I already have? This is a question I got recently from a client who was looking to join the New AHA DR96 Blitz Challenge… Lets address it…
At the core of dry fasting the purpose of us doing this is to decrease the amount of inflammation in the body. Believe it or not I have seen people lose upwards of 7-8lbs in a single day of dry fasting without adding exercise or sauna treatments. Inflammation is also made up of water as well, yet anytime we have excess inflammation in the body over a period of time this will cause damage to the tissues which increases inflammation even more, causing EVEN MORE damage. This is a vicious cycle and will lead to early death and more disease.
Inflammation disrupts our bodies ability to utilize our water in a multitude of ways, but I want to give you a few examples…
Inflammation can disrupt the normal balance of fluids and electrolytes in the body. So many people today think that they have hormonal imbalances and they might, they try to take pre/pro-biotics because they heard an influencer say it helped them balance their hormones. Most of the time you can find these imbalances due to excess inflammation in the body.
Inflammation can affect kidney function that can lead to increased sodium and water retention, which can contribute to fluid overload and edema in the body and potentially the legs long term, causing lipedema. If you struggle with issues with blood sugar levels and high blood pressure, one of the core issues is going to chronic inflammation.
Inflammation can negatively affect muscle function and potentially lead to muscle wasting or loss of muscle. A study recently showed that based upon the amount of muscle an individual has can be attributed to their potential life span. We see this in elderly individuals as they age they lose more and more muscle and systemic inflammation is at the core.
Inflammation can actually cause chronic dehydration. When we have excess water or inflammation systemically throughout the body, the kidneys will be put into a hard position to try to remove what it can. Unfortunately the thing that’s removed is cellular water, which you need and not the inflammation that is being retained in the tissues. This can lead to chronic dehydration which causes a host of additional issues.
Inflammation in the gut can disrupt the microbiome and lead to the inability to absorb nutrients and feed healthy gut bacteria. So many people think they just have a lot of fat in the belly or lower stomach and at the core of that issue you will find, compacted waste, inflamed small and large intestines due to chronic inflammation.
The philosophy of fasting calls upon us to know ourselves, to master ourselves, and to discipline ourselves better to free ourselves. To fast is to identify our dependencies, and free ourselves from them.
Learning The Art of Dry Fasting is the most effective and fastest way to remove systemic inflammation from the body. Now let me answer those 2 questions, ( I didn’t forget lol.) Dry fasting is benefitting your body by dramatically reducing the amount of inflammation you have throughout the organ systems. When you decrease inflammation you increase overall health and well being. Excess inflammation can be found at every site of damage and disease in the body. Simply put, if you decrease unwanted and excess inflammation you decrease current disease and the risk of potential disease. The 2nd question is the mind boggler for most people. My client asked, wont I be dehydrating myself and causing more issues? The swift answer to this is NO. The body has many systems and hormones that communicate with the organs to ensure it functions properly. When you go through a period of dry fasting you trigger the hormone called ADH. This hormone is in charge of sodium and water levels inside of the body. This hormone is also called the Anti-diuretic hormone. The pituitary gland sends signals to the kidneys to tell it to hold or release water. When water is not coming in via food, or drinks in high amounts this hormone increases and causes us to hold water. This is an emergency response from ADH and is called the vasopressin response. During this time the body signals to its deep storage that it needs cellular hydration. The largest form of storage of cellular hydration is what? Have you guessed it yet? The answer is the Fat Cells… Simply put, when you are dry fasting it takes about 36 Hrs for the vasopressin system to activate fully and it will begin to dig deep into the fat storage cells to break them down and use the water stored. This is great for us because we are fasting and it leaves the liver tons of availability to process the toxins that will be released in high amounts from the fat storage being broken down. This in turn causes us to drastically not simply lose “Weight” But after a short period of dry fasting almost all weight lost will be purely from fat… Now who doesn’t want that?!
Id Highly recommend joining the upcoming DR96 Blitz Challenge that will teach you HOW to dry fast safely and properly, You will also receive some unknown tips and tricks that can help you through the process effectively. During that challenge or if you want to simply work on your identity and find a deeper part of self, Make sure to grab a Fasting Identity Guide, there are only about 25 remaining.
Wellness Challenge of the Month
I want you to sit and write out 8 Daily tasks that you want to accomplish. These should be very small and easy to complete within a short time. Everyday after you have completed the task, give yourself a check mark next to the task written out. What this will do is cause you to actively think about your habits and the person you are working to become. Seeing it everyday and seeing what has a check mark and what does not can allow you to see what you specifically need to work on and may bring light to why you are struggling in parts of your life. A few examples of these may be as simple as taking your root vitamins, drinking a cup of herbal tea, walking for 30 mins outside, reading 5 pages in a book, taking 10 mins to pray and meditate, drinking lemon water, eat 1 piece of fruit. Whatever they are make sure they will actually benefit your goals and they need to be small to start. After you’ve seen progress and you have consistent daily check marks, increase the difficulty of each item. So instead of 1 piece of fruit, maybe you swap lunch with an all fruit meal, instead of 30 mins walking, you increase to an hour or 30 mins lifting weights. I love you all!
